WHAT’S THE BEST FABRIC FOR YOUR WORK TRUCK?

The Heavy Duty series has been expertly tailored for your heavy duty truck seat cover needs. Our work truck seat covers are the perfect fit for the market’s top sellers like the F150, Silverado, Dodge Ram, Tundra, and Titan. With a range of meticulously crafted fabrics, we've got the pick up truck seat covers that can work as hard as you and your truck, no matter the environment.

1. Automotive Leatherette Vinyl Seat Covers are a cornerstone for work trucks in the automotive industry. These durable seat covers for work trucks may be offered as an OEM Entry Level fabric, but the practicality of vinyl has stood the test of time. These seat covers are easy to wipe clean and block water and dirt from penetrating through to the original auto upholstery. During the pandemic, leatherette vinyl seat covers attracted the attention of Ford Ambulances, food delivery drivers, police, firefighters, Toyota Taxi Cabs, etc. as a seating surface that could easily be disinfected to provide sanitary seating for the occupants of the vehicles.

2. Northwest Outlaw Saddle Blanket Seat Covers replicate a heavy duty truck seat cover style popular in the 1970s throughout North America. They feature a modernized version of the Mexican saddle blanket material with multi-color yarns throughout the material and solid color stripes. These original pick up truck seat covers typically featured a heavy woven fabric with a robust acrylic backing. The acrylic could scratch and devalue leather interiors and acrylic residue on the underlying upholstery.

Thankfully, we upgraded the quality of the backing and changed it from acrylic to a soft non-woven material. With this change, the work truck seat covers now gently buff factory leather interiors, leaving them unharmed and the backing also acts as a dust barrier. Although this style of pick up truck seat cover has lost some of its national popularity, it is still a common fabric for Chevy Silverado Seat Covers in the Western United States and Western Canadian Provinces.

3. Northwest’s Ballistic Seat Covers feature a 1050 Denier weight with bright reflective yarns. The heavy duty truck seat covers have an attractive pattern that’s a cross between an Oxford weave and a cotton twill design. This is a Durable Heavy Weight fabric with DWR (Durable Water Repellant) Top-Coat and Polyurethane Under-Coat for fabric stability and Extra Waterproof Protection. It can handle heavier weight, but depending on how much use it gets, it’s not as Abrasion Resistant as the Atomic 600 denier fabric listed below. Under most conditions it is a very good performer as an everyday work truck seat cover.

4. Atomic 600 Denier fabric is the go-to material among Heavy Industry clients looking for durable seat covers for work trucks. It features a 600 x 600 polyester construction that is tightly woven to increase the density of yarns per square inch. (Similar Competitor materials only have a 300 x 600 construction) This is our most versatile fabric and is used as an Accent fabric with a wide variety of our other materials such as Camo and OEM. It also features a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) top-coat and polyurethane under-coat for extra sturdiness and extra waterproof protection. Over the years it has become a fan favorite for F150 and Dodge Ram Seat Covers.

Durability

When we first consider a fabric that can handle use as a heavy duty truck seat cover, we always look at the Wyzenbeek test results.

Also known as the double rub test, this durability metric was developed by 20th century inventor Andrew Wyzenbeek. A piece of automotive fabric is placed on top of a half-cylinder covered in a #8 cotton duck fabric. The half-cylinder then rocks back and forth simulating, the action of someone sliding into their truck seat and sliding out.

UV Protection

The second factor we look at for work truck seat cover materials is UV light protection. After many test samples, we decided to include a grade 3.5 UV light protective coating (200 hrs). All fabrics will fade over time, but a quality UV light protective coating can slow this process and help maintain the richness of the color of the work truck seat cover. Grade 1 coatings leave fabric feeling natural but, with very little protection. Grade 5 coating does a very good job for protection but makes the fabric stiff and uncomfortable. Outdoor furniture fabrics often feature 4.0 – 5.0 coatings.

Flammability & Safety

The third consideration in pickup truck seat cover materials is flammability. Our fabrics feature a flame retardant coating and depending on the style of fabric they’ll pass either the FMVSS302 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) or CPAI 84 Sections 5 and 6.

Waterproof

The fourth aspect we take into consideration is a work truck seat cover fabric’s ability to provide waterproof protection. Most of our seat cover fabrics offer high water repellency or are waterproof. Just as with outerwear, at some point due to normal use, the effectiveness of a fabric’s ability to repel water will diminish. You can restore the fabric by either spraying Scotchgard on our O.E fabrics or a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) on any of our others.

HD Designs

Technology has completely changed what we can do with fabrics. A good example of that is the family of camouflage fabrics we offer. Realtree, Mossy Oak, and Fishouflage all require as many as 10 screens to produce the camo seat cover patterns we all love. This process is faster and the quality higher than ever.

Our fabrics really shine in HD because of the quality of the image when using heat transfer paper and the fact that we use durable 600 denier polyester fabrics.

out of the box great.Did not wear well .Follow up customer service is just terrible. My dog ripped one of seat cushion covers and I wanted to get a new one at my cost , good luck. No one would get back to me and i had to go to an upholstery shop to get one made. Elastic hold downs wear out fast.
