Choosing the perfect fabric for your custom seat covers is a critical decision, as it needs to strike a perfect balance between aesthetics and durability. At Northwest Seat Covers, we acknowledge the variety of customer preferences when developing our extensive range of seat cover fabrics to cater to various needs.
From sporty cars to heavy-duty trucks and SUVs, we provide custom fit seat covers crafted from a wide range of fabrics. Our selection is designed to suit everyone’s preferences, whether you prioritize appearance, comfort, or high-performance resilience. No matter how you use your vehicle, we have a custom seat cover for everyone.
We have a comfort-driven selection with fabrics such as our Cool Sport, ideal for those who want custom seat covers with superior air circulation for lowering the temperature in hot weather. If you're seeking custom made seat covers that enhance your vehicle's aesthetics as well as comfort, explore our Camo & Lifestyle range.
For customers in search of durable and resilient materials, our Heavy Duty line offers a range of options. We have aeverything from classic fabrics, OEM materials, to high-performance and high-abrasion fabrics, designed for vehicles exposed to different wear and tear levels, from occasional weekend trips to every day heavy-duty work.
What sets our seat cover materials apart is the waterproofing feature. Most fabrics are treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) top coating and a Polyurethane undercoating, adding an extra layer of protection to your seats.
Our goal is to provide you with custom seat covers tailored to your needs and lifestyle. By identifying your vehicle's primary use and aligning it with the fabric that best suits your needs, you can customize your seat covers to your liking. We make it easy for you to pair your fabric choice with your preferred seat style, ensuring your custom fit seat covers are exactly how you envision them.
When we first consider a custom seat cover fabric we always look at the Wyzenbeek test results, also known as the double rub test. This is a durability test that was developed by 20th century inventor Andrew Wyzenbeek where a piece of automotive fabric is placed on top of a half-cylinder covered in a #8 cotton duck fabric. The half-cylinder then rocks back and forth simulating, the action of someone sliding into their car seat and sliding out. This is one double rub.
The second factor we look at is UV light protection. After many test samples, we decided to include a grade 3.5 UV light protective coating (200 hrs) on our seat cover fabrics. While it’s impossible to completely eliminate the fading of fabric over time, this coating helps slow the process. Grade 1 coatings leave fabric feeling natural but, with almost no protection, black fabrics fade to brown in about a year. Grade 5 coating does an excellent job for protection but makes the fabric quite stiff. Outdoor furniture often receives grade 4.0 – 5.0 coatings. Our use of a 3.5 coating provides an ideal balance of feel and protection.
The third consideration is flammability. Our seat cover fabrics feature a fire retardant coating and depending on the style of fabric they’ll meet either FMVSS302 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) or CPAI 84 Sections 5 and 6 standards.
The fourth aspect we take into consideration is a custom seat cover fabric’s ability to provide waterproof protection. Most of our fabrics offer high water repellency or are completely waterproof. Just as with outerwear, at some point due to normal use, the effectiveness of a fabric’s ability to repel water will diminish. You can restore the fabric by either spraying Scotchgard on our O.E fabrics or a DWR (Durable Water Repellant) on any of our others.
Technology has revolutionized what we can do with fabrics. A good example of that is the quality and variety of camouflage fabrics we offer. Realtree, Mossy Oak, and Moonshine all require as many as 10 screens to produce the camo seat cover patterns we all love.
Our fabrics really shine in HD because of the quality of the image when using heat transfer paper and the fact that we use durable 600 denier polyester fabrics.

It gets cool and damp up here, but the worst is the mud season in spring. It's unbelieveable how muddy things get, so this is my third truck and we can't live without a wipe-off solution and that's why we chose vinyl. Great quality and really easy to wipe clean.
Six months I got some seat covers from north west and just intalled them about a week ago - gotta love the fit and the look - excellent job guys!
Jean was a big help with our medium duty trucks. We figured out that the seats in the trucks were switched and she sent us the correct Bostrom models - very thankful.
Tarring and roofing is killing our seats, so we got some vinyl seat covers and they are litterally seat savers. A bit of degreaser on a rag cleans the roofing tar pretty good.
